It is our pleasure to introduce Asia Dall’Armi Villaret, the most recent addition to LFE’s team for this summer! She has recently completed her bachelor in architecture at the School of Architecture in University College Dublin and will be starting the masters program in September 2024. She has dedicated her time in developing and advancing her skills in a variety of architectural softwares, as well as physical model-making and sketch drawing. She has developed a comprehensive knowledge in both design and technical environments, as well as expanded her research and survey abilities. Her passions in the built environment align greatly with LFE’s objectives of creating solutions of regenerative design. Check out our latest new article about Asia’s background and her experience with LFE.

Dublin

What drew you to work with Living Future Europe?

Studying architecture in Dublin, I have noticed a lack of acknowledgement regarding the EU developments on climate, biophilia, sustainability and the built environment. Looking towards the future, I want to explore a ‘greener’ approach to architecture, and this has led me to working with Living Future Europe.

My bachelor’s degree has taught me the importance of spatial comfort in regards to architecture, and Living Future Europe takes that further. The Living Building Challenge has allowed me to explore the connections between biophilia, inclusion, interior environment and a comfortable quality of life. I am enthusiastic about regenerative design and conservation of existing buildings, which align greatly with LFE’s goals.

One of my main interests has always been the study of languages. Throughout my life, I have lived in Bolzano, Shanghai, Singapore, Boston and Dublin. These opportunities have led me to speak English, Italian, French and Chinese at different levels of fluency. I was drawn to working at LFE as it is a multicultural space, which has allowed me to practise my skills in a professional setting.

How has your experience been at LFE so far?

My experience so far has been very insightful. I have been taking part in the Technical Advisory Group, which has been a great learning opportunity for me. Along with this, I have been familiarising myself with different European standards and regulations, which will in turn help me in my future as an architecture student and potential architect. So far, LFE has been a collaborative space that is conducive to learning. I am looking forward to working on new projects and participating in events throughout the summer.

What have you been doing in your spare time in Bolzano?

I am originally from Bolzano. I am taking advantage of being back in the Dolomites to hike and spend time outside, as well as meet up with family and friends that I have not seen in a long while. Working at NOI Techpark has allowed me to explore a new area of Bolzano that I was unfamiliar with, along with getting to know new people and organisations dealing with regeneration in the built environment.
